• Base salary from $55,245 per annum (AIN Yr 1 level) + 12% Superannuation + access to salary packaging via Maxxia to maximise your take home pay (including venue hire, meals, entertainment and novated leasing). Salary based on our Enterprise agreement and relevant Assistant in Nursing experience year level.

Support exceptional patient care in a dynamic, growing Endoscopy Unit at Macquarie University Hospital

Macquarie University Hospital's Endoscopy Unit is seeking a dedicated Assistant in Nursing to join our dynamic and growing team on a one-year fixed-term, part-time basis (16 hours per week).

This is an exciting opportunity to play a vital role in delivering outstanding patient care within a leading academic health sciences centre. You will work alongside a collaborative, supportive team of clinicians and nursing professionals committed to achieving the best outcomes for every patient. Previous endoscopy experience is desirable, however we are equally interested in individuals with the right attitude and aptitude, teaching and training opportunities are available to help you thrive in this role.

About the Role

As an Assistant in Nursing in our Endoscopy Unit, you will provide a quality standard of nursing care in close collaboration with Registered Nurses, clinicians and support services staff. Your role is key in providing care and comfort for patients and assisting them in meeting their daily living needs throughout the endoscopy patient journey.

Key responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

• Implementing aspects of the nursing care plan as delegated by the Registered Nurse
  
• Demonstrating a satisfactory knowledge base for safe practice and promptly informing the Registered Nurse of any change in a patient's condition
  
• Performing and recording clinical observations, performing ECGs and assisting patients with personal hygiene requirements
  
• Maintaining good customer relations in a way that acknowledges dignity, culture, values, beliefs and the rights of individuals and groups
  
• Ensuring that all documentation is accurate and completed in a professional and timely manner
  
• Complying with policies and procedures relevant to the position to ensure the effective and safe operation of the hospital and the welfare and interests of all employees
  
• Assisting with the preparation and turnover of endoscopy procedure rooms and patient recovery areas

Selection Criteria

• Relevant experience as an Assistant in Nursing, ideally within the private health sector
  
• Demonstrated sound verbal and written communication skills with the ability to build rapport and empathise with patients
  
• Good knowledge of basic nursing care including performing and recording clinical observations, performing ECGs and assisting patients with personal hygiene requirements
  
• Demonstrated commitment to delivering a high level of customer service in a professional manner at all times
  
• Demonstrated enthusiasm and a proactive approach to problem solving
  
• Ability to work effectively as part of a collaborative team
